About
Brighton People's Theatre 'Born & Bread'
Part of Brighton Festival 2024
Amina has just moved to Brighton, with her daughter Darya. She’s doing everything she can to settle into her new home, but every time she looks out at the sea it doesn’t quite feel like home. That’s when she finds an invitation to the Community Kitchen, takes a deep-breath and ventures into a world filled with boisterous bakers, magical mixing bowls, and sweet, sour and salty stories.
Brighton People’s Theatre invites you to the Community Kitchen to enjoy a joyous, funny, hearty meal made from stories from across the city.
In 2022 Brighton People’s Theatre had conversations with over 100 people across the city about food, belonging and what it means to call Brighton ‘home’. From Bangkok to Bevendean, Whitehawk to Mexico City, the stories paint a picture of the City from a perspective never seen before.
A love-letter to the past, a challenge to the future, revealing who we are today.
