Winner of the Golden Screen Award at the recent International African Film Festival in Cameroon.
Sophia (Ouidad Elma), a passionate young photographer from Tangier, has her world turned upside down when she discovers that her French mother, believed to be deceased, is actually alive and living in France.
Driven by a quest for her origins, Sophia embarks on a perilous journey to the heart of Europe, determined to uncover the family secrets buried in the shadows. A poignant and poetic exploration of identity, memory and the legacies that can define us.
Followed by Q&A with director Layla Triqui, and lead actor Mahmoud Nasr facilitated by Dr Khalid Ali (BSMS) and Emeritus Professor Robert Abrams (Weill Cornell Medicine, New York).
Please note we can only admit patrons aged 18 and over as this film has not been certified by the British Board of Film Classification nor an advisory rating given by either Brighton & Hove City Council or Lewes District Council. It has been agreed with these local authorities that we can screen these unclassified films but only those 18 and over can be admitted.
