The Big Read - Clive Myrie Everything is Everything: A Memoir of Love, Hate & Hope

University of Sussex is joining the Big Read for the first time in 2024. Each year universities across the UK take part in the award-winning scheme, choosing a book and sharing it across their respective communities.

Aptly, this year’s book, Everything is Everything: A Memoir of Love, Hate & Hope was written by University of Sussex alumnus Clive Myrie.

Reflecting on this deeply personal memoir, Clive tells how as a Bolton teenager with a paper round, he read all the newspapers he delivered from cover to cover and dreamed of becoming a journalist. He discusses how his family history has influenced his view of the world, introduces us to his Windrush generation parents and shares memories of how his time at University of Sussex shaped him.

The Big Read initiative began in 2016 at Kingston University and we are working with them as partners, along with St George's, University of London and Royal Holloway.
