The café bar at the Attenborough Centre is a beautiful airy space, full of plants and natural light. The full-length windows open out onto a terrace and lawn outside, bathed in the evening light at sunset each day.
The bar serves a selection of local beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. There is also a bespoke cocktail menu – a menu created exclusively for us by mixologist Robert Maynard, bar manager at The Ginger Pig in Hove.
The café bar also offers a selection of sandwiches and delicatessen board “sharing platters” (charcuterie, cheese board, seafood and vegetarian / vegan) with local produce sourced from ethical suppliers.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 11am to 6pm. The cafe bar will also normally be open in conjunction with the ACCA’s programme of events (one hour before each advertised performance time).
Lewes-based interior designers Jeannine Inglis Hall and Gary Campbell have furnished the space with a distinctive combination of refurbished Basil Spence chairs, mixed with bespoke oak tables (created by local designers) and mid-century sofas and armchairs. The bar itself is a beautiful curved concrete structure with a zinc top, created to chime with the original materials used in the building.
The cafe bar is a child-friendly space and we welcome parents and children – and well-trained dogs.
The cafe bar will reopen in September and is currently closed for the summer holiday period.
