BADUIZM: The 25th Anniversary
'Baduizm', the cult debut album by American singer and songwriter Erykah Badu, celebrated its 25-year anniversary earlier this year.
To mark this, visionary musicians from Jungle, Celeste, Ezra Collective, Greentea Peng, Ibibio Sound Machine and Levitation Orchestra have faithfully reimagined this iconic album.
Fronted by rising-star vocalists, Ava Joseph and Akin Soul, expect to hear everything you love about 'Baduizm', propelled by the sound and urgency of our time.
Released in 1997 on Kedar Records, the critically acclaimed album featured massive hits 'On & On' and 'Other Side of the Game'. It topped billboard charts, received international platinum and gold accolades and a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
"Baduizm was an instant hit of intimate existentialism. It stripped the act of soul-searching down to its philosophical elements, mining abstract concepts like self-love, romantic love, and spirituality." Pitchfork
The ensemble say of the project: "Erykah Badu exploded onto the global scene with this music, it is timeless, it gets deeper the more we play it. We can’t wait to bring these songs to life."
