Unsettling Sound
Unsettling Sound was a series of conversations between artists and scholars, hosted online in Autumn 2020 by Sussex Performance Events and Research (SPEAR) and Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA). Embarking from the uncertainties and dissonance produced by remote exchange, something we find ourselves needing to adjust to, the series takes the unsettled experiential dimensions of composing, talking, listening, hearing and sounding online as a chance to explore the various meanings, sensations and ideological potentialities of the sonic in the context of music, dance, visual art and performance.
Over three Fridays in November 2020, conversations convened across continents and time zones around three discrete but interconnecting exchanges among performance makers and researchers.
