Now in its third year, Brighton Digital Festival’s in-house conference, the Messy Edge returns to ACCA for another feast of thinking on digital culture.
Inviting a diverse group of speakers offering different perspectives and starting from a place of ‘critical optimism’, the Messy Edge explores and challenges the dominant narratives that accrue around digital culture and technological development.
The separation between our digital and non-digital lives has all but disappeared our movements through space, our interactions with the world are significantly impacted and shaped by the digital world around us. Questions about who creates and runs that digital world are critical. From surveillance capitalism to algorithmic bias and more, join BDF to explore the Messy Edge.
Confirmed speakers include Dr Nishant Shah from ArtEZ University of the Arts, Catherine Allen of Limina, Maya Indira Ganesh, a feminist activist and doctoral candidate at Leuphana University, Brighton-based trans activist and writer KUCHENGA, Tonya Nelson, Director of Arts Technology and Innovation at Arts Council England, Emillie de Keulenaar, OILab collective and Rhiannon Armstrong, award-winning performance artist.

Pay What You Decide
There is an allocation of two Pay What You Decide (PWYD) tickets per show available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Come and see the show without paying anything in advance, and then pay what you think is appropriate at the end of the show. Maximum of four PWYD tickets per person. Box Office Opening Times
The box office (phone line and drop-in service) is open from 10am to 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. The box office is also open one hour before the advertised show start time.
