Ontroerend Goed: £¥€$ (LIES)
‘The best way to rob a bank, is to own one’ — William Crawford, Commissioner of the California Department of Savings and Loans
Ontroerend Goed invites you to get under the skin of the well-to-do
the 1%, the super rich
the ones who pull the strings,
the faces we never get to see.
For one night, you can take their chairs.
You call the shots.
You're in the centre of our economic system.
You shape the course.
And who knows, you might make the world a better place,
more fair, more responsible,
because you'll do things differently, for sure.
Following sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Fringe and London’s Almeida theatre, world-renowned Belgian theatre company Ontroerend Goed brings its award-winning immersive production to the Attenborough Centre as part of its international tour.
★★★★★ A show that simultaneously reinvents what theatre can be and triggers our emotions in exactly the way the best theatre can do
★★★★ This ingenious high-stakes show uncovers the psychology of those whose financial flutters shook the world.
★★★★ Wickedly enjoyable... Awkwardly seductive
★★★★ As interactive theatrical experiences go, Ontroerend Goed's £¥€$ (LIES) has got to be one of the best... Makes your heart beat faster and your head spin
Ontroerend Goed, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Richard Jordan Productions and Vooruit Kunstcentrum in association with Big in Belgium and RBC
Special thanks to Toneelacademie Maastricht and with the support of the Flemish Government, Province of East- Flanders, the City of Ghent.
£¥€$ (LIES) is an exciting, fast-paced and interactive piece of theatre, which involves playing a (fictional) gambling game. We want you to be comfortable when you arrive, prepared for the performance, so please keep the following in mind:
All seating is around tables and on high, backless stools (please see photo).
All seating is unreserved and is allocated by the acting company upon arrival. Wheelchair users will of course be seated with their companions.
We are unable to admit latecomers, please arrive in plenty of time.
The running time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, without an interval.
Recommended for ages 16+
Due to the nature of the performance drinks will not be permitted inside the auditorium.
Please bring cash to play the game. This is a fictional game so you won't win or lose any real money. Small change is okay as well as notes!
