Viriditas: Nico, Hildegard of the Twentieth Century?
Join us for Viriditas: the music and life of Hildegard von Bingen, a series of events exploring contemporary resonances of the music and life of the 12th century abbess and composer. Hildegard von Bingen (1098 - 1179), was a German Benedictine abbess, mystic, visionary, healer, naturalist, botanist, diplomat, feminist and not least, the first named, and most prolific, although untrained, composer of the middle ages.
For this event, Dr Mimi Haddon (University of Sussex) reflects on women in 20th century popular music.
